Hello Ally,

Spring is upon us (really it is!)

Just wanted to make you aware of an excellent article in Forbes about gender-based unconscious bias and its impact on sustainability. Really good stuff here, of which, in this age of potential polarizations on many fronts, is great to be aware.

A similar dynamic exists in how Male Allies are regarded in a tool called the Stereotype Content Model that measures how society perceives demographics in terms of Warmth and Competence. Male Allies turn out to be High Warmth but Low Competence, which puts them in the same bucket/quadrant that is characterized as folks people “pity”: housewives, social workers, and to some degree, teachers. For those of you who have seen me present, this is a reason why I have that slide titled “So, Lawler, you’re a dude, right?”

We also wanted to share a quick video (scroll down a bit) from our panel appearance at the Skytop Strategies Gender Equity in the C-Suite and Boardroom Conference. Lawler shares one thought (of many) as to how to accelerate the rise of inclusive talent. It was a stellar event and we suggest putting aside some budget for it next year.

For those who may be just joining the list, prior Newsletters and other publications by League of Allies can be found here.

We are also looking forward to sharing some really cool news in the next couple months, so keep your eyes open.

Thanks and Ally On!
